Sports cruiser sailing yachts are defined as sailing yachts less than 50’ (15 m) in length.  Sports cruising sailing yachts will have accommodations for passengers.  Sports cruiser sailing yachts will have berths, heads, and a galley.  Sports cruiser sailing yachts will also have gasoline or diesel inboard engines for sailing under power, emergencies and docking.

Most Sport cruiser yachts are single-masted sloops, with a single fore-sail and a single mainsail.  These yachts can be monohull, catamaran or trimaran hull design.
